From April 17, the hotel will replace plastic tubes with environmentally friendly toothpaste tablets. By saying no to plastic tubes, they are not only inspiring their guests, but also setting an important standard for the entire hotel industry.

A sustainable solution without compromise
– Removing the traditional toothbrush set from the hotel would have felt boring, as it is easy for our guests to forget their own at home. With Gumpearl, we have finally found an environmentally friendly solution where we do not have to compromise on service and guest experience, explains Susanne Boije Fredlund, interim CEO at Clarion Hotel® Umeå.
What makes Gumpearl so special?
Gumpearl has developed toothpaste tablets that are not only ethically produced, but also 100% vegan and free from potentially harmful substances such as SLS, titanium dioxide and alcohol. The tablets contain fluoride and are therefore recommended by the Swedish Dental Association. Best of all? They are completely plastic-free and kind to the environment.
Part of a bigger plan
This new initiative is part of the hotel’s overall strategy to become climate neutral by 2030. The hotel, like Gumpearl, strongly believes that small changes can make a big difference for our planet. The smart design of the tablets minimizes both carbon emissions and plastic waste. They show that it is possible to combine comfort and luxury with a strong environmental commitment.
– We came into contact with each other already this spring and started a dialogue about our products and a possible collaboration.
